Jeff Gorvette from Pixar's CARS 2

Jeff Gorvette is a character in Cars 2 and Cars 3.

Official Description[]

"Jeff Gorvette is one of the greatest American racecars alive today. Donning the stars and stripes of his country's flag, the #24 Corvette C6.R has proven his ability to succeed on the big ovals and the road courses of the Grand Touring Sports circuits. Having moved from his hometown of Vallejo, California to Indiana to be closer to the racing world, Gorvette's ability to accelerate at such a young age has turned hoods wherever he competes. His championships and number of victories are unmatched, making him a respected competitor—and legitimate threat—at the World Grand Prix."

Cars 2[]

In Cars 2, Jeff Gorvette is first seen at the World Grand Prix welcome party in Tokyo with fellow WGP racer Lewis Hamilton and greets Lightning McQueen. He sees Tow Mater talking to the Zen Master.

Gorvette races in all 3 races of the WGP, as well as the one in Radiator Springs. He does not get targeted by a camera used by the Lemons in any of the WGP races. As the first leg of the WGP in Tokyo begins, he started in 4th place before slipping to 5th. However, Nigel Gearsley finished in the 5th.

In the second leg of the WGP in Porto Corsa, Italy, Gorvette is seen in 5th place instead of Nigel Gearsley. Later, he is shown to have slipped to 8th. At the last meters to the finish line in the Porto Corsa race, Gorvette is seen racing alongside Hamilton at the last position. However, a pileup involving WGP racers Shu Todoroki, Miguel Camino, Max Schnell, Raoul ÇaRoule, and Rip Clutchgoneski blocks the track, prompting Gorvette and Hamilton to apply their breaks. They both manage to stop in time, narrowly avoiding the pileup.

In the last race in London, Gorvette is seen following Nigel Gearsley from 6th place to 5th. Finally, right before the Radiator Springs Grand Prix, he remarks to Hamilton that he thinks the event should be held every year. During the race in and around Radiator Springs, Gorvette and Hamilton were seen next to each other in position.

Cars 3[]

Jeff Gorvette makes a cameo in Cars 3. He is interviewed before the Florida 500 and wishes McQueen good luck. Gorvette has retired at the time of the events of the film, and holds the highest number of top ten finishes for a racer.[1] His livery is also different, he no longer has WGP Logos or numbering, nor his US Flag Design. But instead, flames.

Replacements[]

In international versions of Cars 2, Jeff Gorvette is replaced in one scene by a completely different character, voiced by a regionally better known racer than Jeff Gordon.[3] However, they only replace him in the scene where Lightning meets him at the party in Tokyo as well as when that scene appears in Mater's nightmare. They don't replace him in the races or when the racers are shocked at Mater drinking from the water fountain after eating a lot of wasabi. Most of these characters use the same body shape as Max Schnell. These include:

Trivia[]

  • Jeff Gorvette is based on the real NASCAR driver and 4-time Sprint Cup Champion Jeff Gordon. His name is a combination of "Jeff Gordon" and "Corvette".
  • Jeff Gorvette is voiced by the real NASCAR Colombian driver Juan Pablo Montoya in the Latin American release.
  • Jeff Gorvette, according to Meet the Cars, is a 2009 Corvette C6.R which is an allusion to the winning Corvette GT1 (chassis #007) from the 2009 24 Hours of Le Mans.
  • Originally, Jeff Gorvette's racing number was planned to be #3.[15] But it was finally replaced by #24, Jeff Gordon's number. In the final film, there is no racecar in the World Grand Prix with #3.
  • Jeff's pit crew chief is John Lassetire, and one of the pit crew members is Turbo Bullock.
  • Although Jeff is officially a GTS2 (Grand Touring Sports 2) car in the Cars franchise, he is actually modeled after the Corvette C6-R GT1. This is because his diffuser and side vents are designed after the GT1. It also explains why he's powered by a 7.0-liter LS7.R V8 rather than the smaller V8 engines used by the GT2.
  • Jeff is the only character introduced in Cars 2 to return in Cars 3.
  • Jeff's livery in Cars 3 is a reference to his 2015 "Final Ride" Chevrolet SS NASCAR Cup Car. This particular SS was Silver with Jeff's signature flames, a trait his Cars universe version carries.
