IMPORTANT: Puffle339 is too young to legally be a Wikia user (the minimum age is 13), so you need to report him to Wikia Staff so he can be globally blocked until at least his 13th birthday on March 4, 2015. Hi! Good luck with your new wikis! Unfortunately I am very short on time and can hardly keep up with the Pixar wiki. I am also not a fan of LMFAO and don't know much about them so wouldn't be much help. But don't worry, there are many people out there who are fans, and as they find your wikis they will start contributing. It may take time but don't get discouraged - just keep adding content and I think you'll find others who share your interest and will be interested in helping out. Note, in the future it's not required to give the details of a person's edits or objectionable words he is using. If you just let one of us admins know, we can look at history and figure out what he's doing. By repeating his words it's giving him the attention he is looking for. Also, if it's obvious the person is vandalising do NOT write on his talk page - again, this just gives them attention, which is what they are looking for. Not necessarily. But we should be able to remove any content from the user profile that is vulgar, contains profanity, etc. But it looks like that user page is gone now...???? Did you do something? It was in the "live in", "born in", "occupation" area. If users receive an "infinite" ban, perhaps Wikia automatically removes their profiles from that Wiki? That would make sense, to free up space. Even though the wikilink to the profile, User:Skdb769, doesn't work any more, just type it in the search, and it will come up still. You will see what I was talking about. But if the wikilink no longer works, people can't really get to it anyway, except for typing it in search I guess. Maybe the wikilink to it breaks when they are banned for infinity? OK, weird! When I search for the user name it comes up with no matches at all. I have checked everything in the search dialog and still nothing. BUT, if I go to pixar.wikia.com/User:Skdb769 I am brought to his profile page and see what you are talking about.

Isn't it SOP for any wiki to lock the home page, for this very reason (that as the most visible part of the wiki, it tends to be a spam/vandalism magnet)? Having said that, when clicking the "Random Wiki" button at the bottom of the page I was shocked as to how many of the ones I landed upon weren't locked. -- RobertATfm 17:01, May 30, 2012 (UTC)

We try to not lock any page - the point of a wiki is that anyone can edit it, and anyone can undo anyone else's edits. Trust and self-policing is a much preferred solution than locking pages. Yes, we have had vandalism issues, but they are rare and quickly rectified. And I think our users appreciate that they are trusted and can make contributions to any page in the wiki. Block recommendation

(I hope this isn't presumptuous; I am a fellow admin, though not on this wiki, and have recently taken this kind of action myself.)

I think PixarFan2012 should be blocked, or at least sternly warned, as this (despite the username) appears to be a vandalism-only account. He's added nonsense pages such as Beach Chair 2, and even moved the Sid Phillips page to "Ludwig von[sic] Beethoven" (since moved back, of course).

(On a side note, how does one get one's talk-page title into the "<real name> aka <username>" format? I'd like to do this to my own talk pages.)

No, this is not presumptuous - the admins here always appreciate help in ferreting out vandalism. I have blocked that user - we have had troubles with that user before, using similarly named accounts. Thanks!

Main Page Icon Revamp

I noticed the icons haven't changed since this started. Which is cool, consistency and all, but I couldn't help but dread the plain look of the isolated characters on white. Especially on a Wikia for a place such as Pixar. I thought making the movie icons resemble posters we've all seen before would better associate the movie how the public identifies them. Here's an example of the main page with updated icons.

Doesn't it bring much more LIFE?! :)

Are you talking about just changing the film icons? Yes, I mostly like the look of your sample page. My one concern is that due to the small size, the icons shouldn't have too much detail, otherwise it will get lost in the small size. But I think what you've done will work. Brave

This new movie is interesting. Do you know if anybody has made a wiki for it yet? I tried w:c:Brave but it seems to be taken up by some unrelated anime fanfic stuff. If it hasn't been done, any good ideas for a URL? I figured maybe w:c:PixarBrave or maybe if based on earlier potential titles like "Bear and Bow? It looks interesting and I imagine people might want to make individual pages for the characters as it gains popularity. Cars4ever, unless a user has one or more secondary accounts in order to run a bot (at least, as far as I know that's a legitimate use), having such accounts (especially if for a known malicious purpose, such as sockpuppetry) is a violation of Wikia T&Cs, and as such should really be reported to (and dealt with by) Wikia Staff or the VSTF, not local admins. -- RobertATfm (talk) 02:21, July 21, 2012 (UTC)

Hello, User:Satan567 has been vandalizing the main page, adding an inappropriate image. He has to be blocked, and the image he uploaded, File:Goatse.jpg, deleted. The idiot has come back as User:Satan687, and this time did a "look at me, I'm stupid" edit to your own profile page (which I've reverted for you). He's also reuploaded File:Goatse.jpg, and uploaded an image of the Nazi blood flag which he used in his vandalism of your page. (The motivation of such people boggles my mind; if I were that idiotic, I'd want to avoid drawing attention to that fact.)

Evidently, among his other mental deficiencies, he's too dumb to realise that although ordinary users can blank pages (if they're itching to get banned), only admins and above can truly delete them. I don't think there's any way to automate archiving of a talk page, but fortunately doing it manually isn't very difficult:

1. 1. 1. Add a section at the top called "Archived discussions" or whatever you want to call it.
      2. To this section, add one or more links to subpages of your talk page, such as [[User_talk:Dvcnut/Archive_1]] or [[User_talk:Dvcnut/2007_discussions]] or whatever you want to call the page(s).
      3. Cut the text you want to archive from this page.
      4. Paste that text into the new page redlinked from the section you just made, with a note at the top (and perhaps the bottom as well) saying that this is an archive page and must not be edited. Save.
      5. Perhaps protect the page to enforce the no-editing rule.
      6. If you think you have enough accumulated material for more than one archive page, rinse and repeat.

I would think one of the film pages may be an option. Toy Story 3 seems very complete, is a recent film and the Toy Story universe is very popular. Video Gallery on Monster's University Page

New Disney Infinity video game with Pixar worlds

Comingsoon.net and the Disney website have shown that Disney Interactive Studios has announced a new video game called Disney Infinity, which it will include Pixar worlds and characters, and have you able to do some of the original stories and create your own stories and worlds. It has collectible figures of the characters, like Skylanders. I think it will be an exciting game, especially that I'm a big fan of Cars, and I'm happy that Cars will be included in the game.

Navigation Templates

As for your film navigation template, so you're thinking this would go on each film page? Currently we use the Movies and Upcoming categories for the same purpose. Your idea would be slightly quicker, as it saves the visitor from having to first go to the category page, but since we do have the categories it would be redundant. Spoiler Policy

Since there will be a new Pixar movie coming out soon, and I am still very new to this wiki, I would like to ask what the rule is for spoilers on this wiki?  Do we put a spoiler tag at the top of the page?  Do we wait a few weeks after release before putting the full summary?  Any and all help is appreciated.  LevenThumps (talk) 13:21, February 13, 2013 (UTC)

Good question, thanks for asking it! We have a no spoilers policy prior to the film's general release. It can sometimes be a chore to keep all the spoilers out, but we do our best! As we get closer to the film's release (or, if there are pre-screenings), I'll probably put a warning message on the film page to not include spoilers until after the release. Once the film is released, it won't take too many days before people have put in the plot summary. I don't know if we've done it before, but I would like to put a spoilers warning at the top of the film page, at least for a couple of weeks after the release to warn people. --Jeff (talk) 13:57, February 13, 2013 (UTC)

So let's straighten out some things. First, when you write on a talk page you should end your message with ~~~~. This leaves a signature so people know who left the message. It's much more convenient that having to dig through the page history trying to figure it out. Second, he wasn't abusing other people's accounts - he had created multiple user accounts for himself, which is against wiki rules. Third, no, goofing around is not actually only his business. This wiki is not for goofing around; it is for people interested in Pixar-related information. If someone is not interested in contributing to the pages here, and only wants to goof off, then they need to find someplace else to do that. This is a large wiki with thousands of pages and editors, and is used by people interested in finding out more about Pixar. We have a very small group of admins to maintain the site. We have enough to do to keep up with real requests and issues, and definitely don't have time for people who are not serious in contributing to the site. I hope this explains our position better. Earlier this month, Lukwisnie and I had put some differences of Harv's lines in the United States and United Kingdom versions of Cars. I thoroughly agree. Whilst badges are supposed to encourage editing, in my experience they mainly encourage vandal editing (or inane editing for the sake of racking up the badges) rather than genuine constructive edits. For this reason, they were disabled (at my request) on the Fastmail wiki, and have never been enabled on any wiki I've founded. A Movie Navigaiton Template?

I have a suggestion for a temaplate. You could put it on all of the movie pages so that users can navigate back an forth through the films. Just like the Next island template on Poptropica Wiki, a wiki I'm a bureaucrat on. It works similar to this:

For instance, if you click the previous button it goes to the Cars 2 page, if you click the next button it goes to the Monsters University page. The word Brave in the middle could be replaced by the Brave logo. I believe this would be beneficial to the wiki and easier the navigate through the Pixar film pages.

I still want feedback from the other admins. I'm not sold on it yet. I think it can be useful to have such navigation system. But... I have a few comments on the box currently on the MU page. My biggest and most urgent problem is that now the wiki is using the Brave logo for the thumbnail image of the page, instead of the MU logo, which is very misleading. (Example:look at it here) I am not familiar with the workings of this kind of code, so I don't know how this could be solved; but I know that if the box was lower in the source code than the "film" template, it would work fine, but then I guess it wouldn't look good.

I also think its appearance could be improved... It feels like it's not integrated in the page. A minor change I am thinking of is that the bold black line around it should be thinner, to fit our other templates. And there's nothing that indicates what is this box about. I have fixed the thumbnail photo problem, by adding a code. I can't get it to show up on this page, so edit the page to see it inside the following parentheses (

[[Image:{{{1}}}]]

). What you do is add the code to the very first part of the page and replace [[Image:{{{1}}}]] with the image that you want as the thumbnail, then it should change the image. Ooh, that is a nasty and ugly bug. I don't like having to hide an image at the top of the page to get that to take precedence for the thumbnail image. I think we need to think more about this. I don't like the navigation at the bottom of the page - our movie pages are so long, almost no one will go all the way to the bottom to switch to a different movie. I like having the navigation bar, but I know Ryan doesn't see a use for it. So for now I think we need to remove it from Monsters University. I also removed the spoiler template from Finding Dory as that was causing the same problem. Yea, I'm usually on the page of less clutter. But I think the version we have, without images, is pretty streamlined, fits well on the page and doesn't look gaudy. And I can see advantages to being able to go directly between movie pages. I'm pretty torn about it though, so if you think this is just an abomination I'm fine removing it. Sorry, that's quite an open-ended question! By making it better, I think you mean formatting changes? I'm not familiar with the Blogs here on the wiki but I would think you can format the pages just like any other page can be formatted. But if you're serious about doing a blog you might want to look into sites like wordpress or Blogger. These sites will have pre-made templates and integration with social networking sites like Twitter and Google+ that might be useful. For instance, the blog I write (ThisDayInPixar.com) is hosted on Google Blogger. Good luck!

Cars 2 trivia

I don't recall if there was swearing in the film. If you don't think there's any swearing you can remove it and add an edit summary explaining why you removed it. If someone disagrees, they can add it back.

Also, you should always end your talk messages with "--~~~~". This will insert your signature so others will know who left the message on their talk page. New Vandal

Today I saw that a new vandal named "Stupidpieceofguyz" vandalized two pages, and completely destroyed them. The first was Gray Catbird's user profile. The other one was the Cars 2 page, he erased EVERYTHING and wrote a really offensive message.

I don't think I have a problem with the Disney Infinity Wiki affiliating with us. New Hebrew wiki

Hi Shani! Congratulations on your Pixar wiki, and the other ones! As a fan of Doctor Who and Lord of the Rings (and of course Pixar!), it's always nice to see these properties get promoted! I believe what you are asking is that we add an interlanguage link from our site to your Hebrew site? I don't have a problem doing that. I tried adding a link on the Pixar wiki main page (where we have the other ILLs) and it didn't work. For instance, I added [[he:]], similar to how the other ILLs are done, and it doesn't show up in the list. Well, I'm sorry if you feel I'm ruining your life. I did block you but am in no way attacking you. Our wiki will only grow and prosper if we work together. I'd very much like for you to continue being a contributor here on the Pixar wiki but there are a couple rules you must follow. First, we have agreed it's too early and there's not enough information to state that Riley is the protagonist. Yes, it's very likely in the end she will be, but with the information we currently have we can't make that decision. I don't think it is "ruining your life" if you can't put the term protagonist on her page. So please stop trying to add that to her page. Second, using UPPERCASE letters and lots of exclamation points can make people feel intimidated or threatened. And making statements like "you're out of Pixar wikia" or that you're going to "protect" a page is not helpful, and false since you don't have permission to do those things. Threatening and intimidating behavior is grounds for permanent banning from the site.

So you have a couple of choices. You realize we can ban you from this site. I really don't want to do that, but you are on your last chance. Stop re-editing our changes, especially to Riley's page, and refrain from intimidating behavior. Otherwise, the next ban will be permanent. Hey there! :) I'm so happy our wikis were finally linked, you can see my wiki's main page now, i added a graphic list of the wikis in the bottom of the page. Anyways, i wanted to consult with you about the option of adding a "Pixar Theory" article. I believe you read the theory (and if you don't, you should read it here), I actually first entered the Pixar universe threw it, and i believe it should get an article here. I translated the theory to Hebrew, and i'm going to write the Hebrew article anyway. Do you think it has a place in your wiki? If it is, I can take the burden of writing it.

I was surprised to realize we actually have a page pertaining to the Pixar Theory on the wiki right now. It's called The Timeline of Pixar; it should be deleted I guess ? But yeah, the Pixar Theory is very interesting; I really like its elegance, how it has a general idea and progression. Affiliating Lucasfilm Wiki ?

Hello Jeff! User:Byzantinefire left a message on my wall on Disney Wiki, asking if Pixar Wiki is interested to be affiliated with Lucasfilm Wiki. I am not sure myself what to say, so I wanted to consult you. It's true Pixar originates from Lucasfilm, but that's (in my knowledge) all there is of related between the two... I'm Back!

Hi Jeff! It's so nice to be back. I haven't edited in about two years, and this wiki has really progressed. I can't even catch up with all of the new movies, and short films, and new Cars Diecasts... Anyways, I wanted to know if I could be on the staff. But wait! Not now, but I mean to ask you what the edit requirement is. I have never really been an admin on any wiki, except for wikis that I created and nobody edits on. I also wanted to know who here is very active, because I have seen some people edit every few seconds. FYI: The reason I don't edit here much is because I like Angry Birds now, and I am just a passerby on that wiki. Well, it was nice to write to you, and tell all of the other admins that I said hi.

I am hesitant to unblock him - we gave him plenty of opportunities to modify his behavior which he never did. He's also been blocked from other wikis so this is obviously not an isolated case. Wiki, he is saying that Randall is the main antagonist of Monsters, Inc. and the boss of Waternoose because that Waternoose stated that he had to banish Sulley because of Randall, but then Waternoose orders Randall to stop Sulley. Proposing a new page

Hello Jeff! I am interested in making a page to list all the references in Pixar films to future films. Indeed, making a nod to the next film seems to have become a tradition as big as A113 or the Pizza Planet truck, one of these they cannot miss. And I also think it's a quite interesting type of Easter egg. Since I feel it is relatively unusual to add an all-new page about pan-Pixar films trivia, I just wanted to know if you had anything against this idea ? Great! Yes, I would put the page at least in the Trivia category. I'm not sure if it would fit in the culture categories, however.

I will also defintively put in a ref section. Regarding the The Good Dinosaur, a toy matching the dinosaur we've seen everywhere (Arlo) has been recognized by many websites, and there is a tweet from Bob Peterson to support that; I think official sources didn't mention it however, but that I will have to check. Difference between film and shorts characters

I'm not sure I understand your question? We don't create character categories for each individual short film, we just have a shorts characters category. But a character can be both a film and a short film character, like Sulley. If you have a specific example, please let me know and I'll try answering your question better! I didn't think the edits he made today were that bad. Usually, it is called a "pu pu" platter, not "poo poo", although I didn't do any research to see exactly how Pixar was spelling it. Edit Wars between Stinky Pete and Al McWhiggin

Wiki user Jeff Meredith says: "I'm sick and tired of everyone's changes on Stinky Pete! I'm serious! Larry1996 and I had an antagonist war between SP and Al McWhiggin, and Greywolf broke it up. If Stinky Pete is the main antagonist and Al McWhiggin is the secondary antagonist, or vice versa, then it should say so in the article. So how will Al and Stinky Pete be classified antagonist-wise? The issue has been resolved. Jeff Meredith's language is threatening and he doesn't seem to understand a wiki must support multiple editors with many different opinions, some of which we will not agree with. A page does not belong to a single user. Due to his continued use of that type of language and continued editing of those pages after he was asked not to has led me to block him.

As for how they will be referred, we have been discussing this on Category_talk:Primary_Villains. As it stands now, Stinky Pete will be considered the primary antagonist and have the Primary Villains category. Al will be considered a secondary antagonist.

I'd like to thank you for your attempts at solving this edit war. But also want to point out that a page on wiki answers that says so and so is the antagonist, doesn't really mean he/she is the main antagonist. That's just one persons opinion. The Pixar wiki is primarily concerned with only official news and information from Pixar, but some topics like villains isn't always cleanly expressed by Pixar, Hopefully as a community we can make our own opinions and all be OK with it. Yea, I usually leave the user's talk page open so if they want to explain themselves they have that option - I'm pretty quick with the infinite blocking, which is drastic I admit, so I feel I should give the user a means to make amends until it is abused. I have closed his talk page so he won't be able to edit it anymore.

The talk pages are meant for discussions of the related character/film/actor page - for instance, to discuss what should or shouldn't go on that page. Your comment was an opinion. There's nothing wrong with expressing your opinion, but the talk page isn't the right mechanism for that. Rather, you can use your personal talk page or your personal blog page. That way you can have blog posts on any Pixar-related topic, others can comment and interact with you, and we keep the talk pages for official information. Hope that helps!
