Ellie is Carl Fredricksen's childhood sweetheart and wife in Up. Her idol was Charles Muntz. She met Carl when he was 8 years old, and she shared stories with Carl about how she wants to travel to South America. Later in the film, they marry each other and rebuild her old clubhouse into their new home. She shares a very happy and loving marriage with Carl, but never achieved her dream of traveling to Paradise Falls. She later dies of old age and Carl decides to fly the house to South America in her honor by rigging it with thousands of balloons.
